Top Priorities (in addition to legislating for increased and appropriate school funding)

  • Attendance remains a key focus, particularly in understanding the role of mental health in student engagement. I want to further explore the barriers preventing students from attending school and identify effective strategies—especially at the secondary level—to encourage attendance. Once students are in the building, we must ensure they feel seen, heard, and valued so that they continue to show up and actively participate in their education.

  • I am committed to examining how our district supports students who are furthest from justice and identifying where we are falling short in creating and implementing effective mechanisms for improving student learning. Utilizing our strategic plan, AROI data, and equity audit, I want to assess where gaps remain and how we can take meaningful action to close them.

  • I am committed to strengthening trust and collaboration with our union partners, teachers, staff, and the broader community. Building and maintaining these relationships is essential to creating a supportive and effective educational environment.

  • La asistencia sigue siendo un enfoque clave, particularmente para comprender el papel de la salud mental en la participación de los estudiantes. Quiero explorar más a fondo las barreras que impiden que los estudiantes asistan a la escuela e identificar estrategias efectivas, especialmente en el nivel secundario, para fomentar la asistencia. Una vez que los estudiantes estén en el edificio, debemos asegurarnos de que se sientan vistos, escuchados y valorados para que continúen apareciendo y participando activamente en su educación.​

  • Estoy comprometido a examinar cómo nuestro distrito apoya a los estudiantes que están más alejados de la justicia e identificar dónde nos estamos quedando cortos en la creación e implementación de mecanismos efectivos para mejorar el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Utilizando nuestro plan estratégico, datos AROI y auditoría de capital, quiero evaluar dónde persisten las brechas y cómo podemos tomar medidas significativas para cerrarlas.​

  • Estoy comprometido a fortalecer la confianza y la colaboración con nuestros socios sindicales, maestros, personal y la comunidad en general. Construir y mantener estas relaciones es esencial para crear un entorno educativo eficaz y de apoyo.

Fiscal Priorities

  • Understandably, the State School Fund "number" is the greatest indicator for our TTSD budget. I have, and will continue to, fight for not just adequate, but appropriate school funding

  • The district, along with the board, has done significant work relative to student AROI (academic return on investment), which allows the district to make data-driven, student-focused decisions around financial investments.

  • TAG requires identification and services but receives no state or federal funding. Differentiation on all levels should be happening all of the time,

  • Concerning our SSA funds, we should continue to prioritize culturally responsive partners, social-emotional learning supports, and mental health supports (including counselors, psychologists, and medical social workers)
